Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD): Start Your Claim Early with Confidence
Leaving the Military Soon?
If you’re within 9 months of discharge, it’s time to begin building your VA Disability Claim the right way—with Life Change’s engineered process.
The Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) program allows active-duty service members to submit their claim between 180 and 90 days before separation, giving them the opportunity to receive their rating and benefits much sooner after transition.
But at LC, we don’t wait for the 180-day mark.
We begin claim construction at 270 days out—giving our Veterans a major strategic advantage.
How LC’s Engineered Process Sets You Up for BDD Success
Our methodical, data-driven approach means your claim isn’t just submitted—it’s engineered for success:
We identify actual, diagnosable conditions the VA recognizes
We use a “physics model” of evidence—ensuring all documentation aligns and supports the claim like a well-built machine
We structure your medical records, nexus letters, buddy statements, and VA forms in a cohesive system
We optimize timing and sequencing so nothing is rushed or missed
We focus on outcomes—not just processing claims, but maximizing your rating
“At LC, we engineer every claim with precision so Veterans get the right rating the first time—because that’s what they’ve earned.” – Thomas Barr, Founder
Presumptive Disabilities: Know What You’ve Earned Before You File
One of the biggest advantages of starting early is identifying presumptive conditions tied to your unique military history. These are disabilities the VA already presumes are service-connected if you meet certain criteria—meaning less evidence is required and higher chances of approval.
Our consultants use your:
Branch of Service
MOS / AFSC / RATE
Deployment Location
Unit Type (e.g., Special Forces, Aviation, Shipboard, Combat Arms)
Known Exposure Risks (e.g., Burn Pits, Agent Orange, JP8 Jet Fuel)
…to build a Presumptive Profile before you even hit the BDD window.
Examples include:
Infantry Marines & Soldiers: Orthopedic injuries, PTSD, tinnitus
Aviation Techs & Mechanics: Hearing loss, chemical exposure
Sailors: Back, knee, and shoulder issues from shipboard duty
Combat Deployments: Burn pit-related respiratory conditions under the PACT Act
Vietnam-era Veterans: Agent Orange-related presumptives like ischemic heart disease, diabetes, and cancers
By starting early, we have time to:
Crosswalk your duty assignments with VA presumptive lists
Gather supporting evidence and medical opinions
Strategically prepare for primary and secondary claims
Optimize your claim structure to align with VA rating criteria
Take Control of Your Transition
Don’t wait until it’s too late to build your claim. Start now—at 9 months out—and enter the BDD window with everything ready for submission.
Let Life Change guide you through the most important transition of your military career—with confidence, precision, and results.
